READ | NEW GRADING SYSTEM

The University of Mindanao, Main, and its branches, effective last A.Y. 2020-2021, implemented the use of the new grading system (NGS). As of today, covering the NGS is the 1st year, 2nd year & 3rd year college students.

This is implemented to align with the international benchmark in terms of grading systems, wherein the highest numerical grade is 4.0 or A, which means High Distinction, and the lowest numerical grade is 2.0 or C-, which means Average. The failing numerical grade is 1.0 or F for Fail. This grading system shall then be used in the succeeding academic year.

Courses from the fourth/fifth year level this school year shall follow the previous grading system until they graduate, wherein the highest grade of 100% is equivalent to 1.0 numerical grade.

In addition, students are advised to be guided with these:

• WHEN AND HOW TO COMPLY (7.1) GRADES?
The completion of 7.1 rating shall be done within the immediate succeeding semester. Upon payment of the outstanding account, either in full or partial, the corresponding grade shall be automatically posted by the system. Failure to pay within the prescribed period, the grade shall remain at 7.1 but considered as No Grade.

• WHEN AND HOW TO COMPLY (7.2) GRADES?
The 7.2 grade shall be complied within the succeeding semester. Failure to comply within the completion period, the rating shall remain as “7.2” but considered as “No Grade”. The said subject should then be re-enrolled. Further, for the completion of grades, the student has to verify from the teacher the lacking requirement/s through email, Quipper and/or other online platforms and they may also visit the Program Head’s Office for guidance.

Please be guided.
