Graduation Requirements

General Policies

Upon fulfilling all the requirements prescribed in the curriculum, the student may be recommended for graduation by the Dean of the College subject to the following:

  • The candidate must be of good moral character;
  • He/She must have completed the prescribed program, provided that the last academic year was spent in the University; and
  • The candidate must have been cleared of all financial obligations in the University.

Academic Costumes

In order to secure uniformity in the costumes for academic procession and commencement exercises, academic costumes are herby prescribed.

Doctoral Degree

The gown shall be black with long loose, bottom pointed sleeves. Bottom hem shall extend to six (6) inches from the floor. The sleeves have three (3) bars corresponding to the color of the department.

The cap should be circular type board with soft material on top and colored cotton yarn around. The color must be distinctive color of the department or college.

The hood is rectangular, regulation shape, of black completely lined inside with maroon and gold equally divided. At the edge of the neckline, there should be a trimming of silk of the department color. The tip of the hood should reach the level of the knee joint at the back.

Master’s Degree

The gown shall be black silk with long sleeves, square at the end, extending to three (3) inches below the knee. The arms of the same should pass through an opening at the elbow of the sleeves thus exposing forearm. Bottom hem of the gown should be six (6) inches from the floor.

The cap should be hexagonal type boarded with a pompom of colored cotton yarn on the middle of the top. The color must be distinctive color of the department or college.

The hood is triangular, regulation shape of black completely lined inside with maroon and gold equally divided. At the edge of the neckline, there should be a trimming of silk of the department color. The tip of the hood should reach the level of the knee joint at the back.

Bachelor’s Degree

The gown shall be black with long loose, bottom painted sleeves. Bottom hem shall extend six (6) inches from the floor.

The cap shall be standard four cornered Oxford type of tag Board, with a thick tassel of cotton yarn. The color of the tassel shall correspond with that of the department or colleges color.

The hood shall be a triangular hood of similar shape. There should be a black line with maroon and gold trim at the edge of the neckline with silk, the color of which shall conform to the department or college where the student belongs. The tip of the hood shall extend to the level of the buttocks.
